Maha Shivaratri

Maha Shivratri or the Great Night of Shiva is a Hindu festival celebrated every year by devotees of Lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva is the divine protector and destroyer. He is also known as “the compassionate one” for he gulped poison down his throat in order to save the world during the churning of the ocean (a great Hindu mythological event).

The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael (Bilva) leaves to the Lord Shiva, all day fasting and an all night long vigil.

On this day, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan arranges Spiritual discourses and Bhajan Programmes that are conducted at all branches.
