Sri Ram Navami
Ram Navami is a major festival celebrated in many parts of India. It occurs on the ninth day, or navami. The festival commemorates the birth of Lord Shri Rama who is remembered for his prosperous and righteous reign. Lord Rama is the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who takes birth on earth when Adharma over rules Dharma. He protects all his devotees by vanquishing the roots of Adharma. Lord Rama was born on earth to destroy the demon named Ravana.
Ardent devotees keep a fast on this day and temples are decorated and readings of the Ramayana take place. Along with Shri Rama, people also worship Sita, Rama’s wife; Lakshman, Rama’s brother; and Hanuman, an ardent devotee of Ram and the leader of Rama’s army in battle.
Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan celebrates this occasion to glorify the ideal personality and teachings of Lord Rama, through discourses, bhajan-sankirtans and a long procession by the preachers and devotees associated with the organization. This day also brings forth an outstanding example of communal harmony, as even the Sikh and Muslim disciples of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji march through the streets, holding the banners of Rama’s name aloft and raising slogans in His glory.
