Theatre Workshop: ‘Jagrati’

Literally speaking, ‘Jagrati’ means, ‘awakening, to cause to wake up’. The best way to awaken individuals in the society to certain issues is through enactment of the concept.

It has been rightly said that visual impact makes a concept much clearer than mere reading or listening about it. Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, recognizing this human psyche, has a theatre workshop by the name of ‘Jagrati’. In Sanskrit, this word means ‘to awaken’.

Our theatre-making is not a commercial exchange but the sharing and offering of religious, social, political and cultural insights, which can empower individuals to change themselves and the world around them. Some of our prime enacted issues are drug abuse, alcoholism, child and animal abuse, terrorism, women exploitation, corrupted govt. officials, religious exploitations etc.

The volunteers of Jagrati workshop, through their plays, first bring forth an issue, its repercussions on the individual and social level, and then show the way to wipe out the cause. The acts are in strict sense eye-openers.

Thus, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan in order to make a better tomorrow relentlessly works on awakening the masses towards the burning issues of today.
